New tools to battle stomach cancer

Singaporean researchers have devised new tools that will slice away early-stage stomach cancer while simultaneously coagulating the wounds to stem blood loss.
According to The Verge:
The minuscule robot is placed at the tip of an endoscope and travels to the afflicted region by entering through a patient’s mouth. Armed with a pincer for grabbing hold of cancerous tissue, the crab’s other “leg” is a hook which can then slice away the area and coagulate the wound to stem any bleeding.
The tools have already been tested successfully on five patients. With stomach cancer rated currently as having the second highest mortality rate of all forms of cancer, hopefully this non-invasive surgery will increase the chances of recovery from stomach cancer.
