Simple add-on turns smartphones into a $2 portable eye exam.

Two billion people globally require corrective vision aides in some way, but not everyone is so lucky to receive needed care particularly in rural areas or developing nations. This is where the Netra comes into play, a device that connects to the smartphone and can measure nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism. 

There are already a smartphone accessory can spot blood disorder, so there will be more  attachments the scientific community will come up with next. These innovations, enabled by smartphones (and  tablet computers to some degree) will no doubt turn smart devices into the required mobile doctor kits.
